How to Eat Acorns

Space is limited; preregistration & payment is required
$15 per person / $10 for Co-op Member-Owners (use code: MORWA0220)

Acorns, or oak nuts, have remained an important and nutritious food source for many animals, including humans, around the world, for hundreds of thousands of years. The oak tree has sustained human civilization since its inception in countless ways, and acorns are still abundant, delicious and nutritious. Why have we in the Modern West neglected this truly wonderful superfood? How have we in our modern culture nearly forgotten how to harvest, honor and enjoy this incredible gift?

Learn how to identify, gather, process store, and use acorns in the kitchen. We'll cover identification, collection, storage, processing, cooking, and consumption. Acorn snacks will be available for sampling!

They accomplish this by teaching small-scale place-based human skills, leading classes and workshops, facilitating collective educational experimentation, and practicing long-term regenerative foraging. They depend on donations from the community to offer classes and workshops and they are grateful for your support. Scholarships are available for paid classes on an as-needed basis and nobody will ever be turned away for lack of funds. Email marketing@portlandfood.coop to inquire about availability.
